Aug 1968 (MT trip, cont.)

Second half of trip to Montana, flattening the tent with more ritual smooching, signs: 52 miles from Camp Crook, 72 miles from Ekalaka, passing through Belle Fourche, South Dakota, Entering Wyoming, Black Hills National Forest, Devil’s Tower, campsite set up, closer to Devil’s Tower, Dad and Sue flatten tent then shake hands, vist to Mount Rushmore, tent back up, then down again, crossing the Cheyenne River, concrete tipi near Wasta, SD, Wall Drug, passing by Dinosaur Park, crossing the Missouri River near Chamberlain, SD, back into Minnesota passing through Hoffman, MN (Junction hwy 55 and 27). Home again.  Ginger and Jet seem mostly glad to see us.  Ginger and Jet eat corn off the cob, visiting Lake Hubert, MN with Grandma Sally, back home to the cows and chickens, Dad braves big snow to feed the dogs, putting the mailbox back up after snowplow knocked it down, Dave shovels snow, driving into Staples on 8th St with big drifts on each side of road, farm scenes with lots of snow, visit to Grandma and Grandpa’s house to meet up with Bob, Rita, Ann, Jill and Mark, Sandi, Jerry and Dave do the “Monkey Walk”, visiting Marlon, Tootie and the Olson clan at their home, 4608 North Aquila Ave, New Hope, MN, Sue and Tootie at MSP Airport, view of farm from a great height (perhaps from lift truck putting in new REA power pole and light?), Anniversary Cake Mom & Dad celebrating (19th? 20th?) on yard swing, Sue with trombone and Diane with Baritone SHS Marching Band, July 4th parade.  Cats tussling, entering Witchita, KS airport, entering Oklahoma, views from commercial airplane windows, takeoffs and landings, Dad taking lessons, getting pilot certification,

0:00 – 03:32 – Dad set up the movie camera to take time-lapse photos at 10 minute intervals looking northwest from kitchen window.  Frames were taken between 9am and 3pm each day, Thursday, February 13 through Saturday, April 5th, 1969 for a total of seven weeks.
