Here are some smaller reels, typically 5 to 6 minutes, found in a footlocker. The display rate has been slowed by about 35% in my attempt to match what I believe to be the correct playback speed.
Updates to the descriptions will be made as I receive them from relatives.
Reel 21
This reel appears to be mostly from an Engelhardt family reunion at the Engelhardt residence at 504 North Nokomis, Alexandria, MN. Estimated date to be in the later 1970s. A parade follows, perhaps in Nelson, MN. A bus trip with a visit to a botanical park featuring a large outdoor clock with a sweep-second hand. Out-of-focus footage of people leaving what appears to be a church, part of the bus trip (name tags in evidence). Back to the house on Nokomis.
Reel 22
Footage from Bob and Sue’s wedding reception at the farm in Staples, MN. A parade in Nelson, MN with footage taken across from the Nelson Post Office. Aerial footage of the Twin Cities area (?), more of the house on Nokomis with a chalkboard showing the date as May 15, 1981.
Reel 23
Big snowstorm at the house on Nokomis with a hand-written placard showing “March 10, 1979”. Birds eating bird seed, possibly taken the same day. Two female visitors arrive in a blue Chevy truck.
Reel 24
This appears to be a clip from a commercial film of some kind. The 28 seconds consists of mostly silhouettes of archers, some wearing headdresses dancing in front of a fire. My grandpa likely added it to a small reel he labeled “leaders” along with some actual opaque film leaders. Those were the days when people kept everything, since “you just never know…”.
Reel 25
The first three minutes of this reel consist of very much over-exposed footage of what appears to be a wedding reception, possibly at the LeVasseur Farm in Staples. Grandma Sally is in the footage so it is possibly that Grandpa Carl was the photographer, although he passed away in 1977. Someone resembling our Cousin Sandy appears wearing a “Lee” shirt which was probably her last name at the time. The second half of the reel shows a chalkboard with “8-11-81 Happy Birthday” on it; probably a party being given for one of Grandma Sally’s friends – perhaps one of the ladies who show up at either 4:05 or 4:09 minutes in. At 4:22 the start of footage that appears to be taken at a Tysdal Family Reunion at Tysdal “Triple T” farms near Fergus Falls, MN. As a guess this was filmed in 1982, which may have been the 62nd such reunion.
Reel 26
The start of this reel shows a gathering, possibly a wedding reception at a hotel, name starting with a German-style script “W”. The rest of the reel shows Grandma Sally’s garden at the house on Nokomis in Alexandria, MN. A picnic table is set up and guests appear to be entering the garage. A view of the entrance to the Eagles Club, more footage of the yard and garden. A brief appearance of what appears to be luggage makes me wonder if this footage was taken just as Grandma Sally was packed to leave her home.
